No. The Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) began registering eligible Ontario PSWs on December 1, 2024, and as of July 31, 2026 registration is voluntary — the current Act does not require a person to be registered to provide personal support services or to use the PSW title. There is currently no cost to apply, register or renew (hscpoa.com, checked July 31, 2026). Yes — several Ontario colleges offer PSW-to-RPN bridging programs that recognize prior PSW coursework and clinical hours. Length and entry requirements vary by college and program, so confirm both with the college you are applying to.
